NHS Lothian Charity is delighted to receive a £2,000 donation from Canterbury Travel in support of our Fighting Against Cancer Edinburgh (FACE) cancer fund, helping bring comfort, support and special experiences to children and families affected by cancer across Edinburgh and the Lothians.

The donation comes from proceeds generated by ‘The Elf Song‘, a festive track played during Canterbury Travel’s popular Lapland short breaks. While spreading Christmas cheer to holidaymakers, the song is also helping raise money to support families facing some of the most challenging times in their lives.

This latest donation celebrates a relationship spanning more than 30 years between Canterbury Travel and FACE volunteers. Since 1994, Canterbury Travel has worked with FACE to help deliver annual trips to Finnish Lapland for families affected by cancer or bereavement.

Funded through donations to our FACE cancer fund, these special trips give families the opportunity to spend precious time together and create lasting memories, from reindeer sleigh rides and snowmobiling to a magical Search for Santa.

In addition to this year’s £2,000 donation, Canterbury Travel also donated a magical day trip to Lapland for four people as the prize for NHS Lothian Charity’s 2026 Lapland Raffle and previously provided the raffle prize in 2024. These donations have helped raise further funds to support patients and families affected by cancer across Edinburgh and the Lothians.

Brian Wright, Marketing Director, Brooklyn Travel Group said:

Our relationship with the FACE volunteers is incredibly special to us, and we are proud to have supported them for more than 30 years. We have seen firsthand the difference these magical Lapland experiences make to families going through such difficult times. By donating all proceeds from The Elf Song, we hope to continue spreading a little Christmas magic while helping FACE carry on its wonderful work supporting children and families affected by cancer.”

John Macaulay MBE, NHS Lothian Charity: FACE, said:

We are incredibly grateful to Canterbury Travel for their continued generosity and support over many years. Our annual Lapland trips mean so much to the families we support, offering them a chance to enjoy some Christmas magic and create precious memories together during difficult times. The proceeds from The Elf Song are another wonderful gesture, and every donation helps us continue making a real difference to the lives of children and families affected by cancer.”

The £2,000 donation will help NHS Lothian Charity: FACE continue supporting projects and services that enhance care for people affected by cancer, providing the little extras that can make a difficult time a little easier for patients and their loved ones.
