Climbing Bennachie
Huge congratulations to Findlay Bain for raising £2,300 for our Scoliosis Research Fund! Three years ago, Findlay underwent surgery, and as a way to say thank you, he took on the challenge of climbing Bennachie in Inverurie.

Fundraising gig
Well done to Sunflowers and Sunshine! Their incredible fundraising gig raised over £5,000, smashing their initial £1,000 target. Their support for staff and researchers at the Edinburgh Cancer Centre will a huge impact on the lives of cancer patients and their families.

Selling handmade bracelets and cakes
A big THANK YOU to Evie Crole who raised an incredible £188.05 from selling handmade bracelets and baking cakes. Evie wanted to say thank you for the care her granny received when she was poorly and had to stay in the hospital.

Many thanks to Berwickshire Charity Truck Run (BCTR) for their incredibly generous donation to support the work of our Scottish Cancer Research Network (SCRN) Team at the Edinburgh Cancer Centre. By coming together as a community, they’re helping to fund pioneering cancer research that can improve or save lives.
FACE Volunteers
Winter Fair
Another terrific event by our amazing volunteers at Fighting Against Cancer Edinburgh. Their annual winter fair raised a whopping £6,205 which will help provide the little things that make a difference to people affected by cancer and their families in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas.
Kiltwalk Charity Champions
Big Stroll, Mighty Stride and Wee Wander walkers
Excellent work by our fantastic Kiltwalkers who raised over £14,000! Every step you’ve taken helps fund projects across NHS Lothian; life-saving research, the impactful volunteering programme, comforting healing spaces for patients and families, and support for our dedicated, hardworking, NHS staff. We’re so grateful for your support.
Gill Shaw
Knitted items sale
Well done to Gill Shaw who works in the Lothian Birth Centre for raising over £1,700 through her knitted items sales in the mall at the Royal Infirmary. Money raised will help them continue to provide a ‘home from home’ feel to the unit and fund patient comforts and projects to support families who are being cared for at the centre.
Ross and Fiona Matheson
Edinburgh Half Marathon and London Marathon
Brother and sister, Ross and Fiona Matheson, took on challenges to say thank you to the amazing critical care staff at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh who cared for their dad before they tragically lost him following a sudden and unexpected cardiac arrest. Ross ran the London Marathon, raising over £4,000 and Fiona ran the EMF Half Marathon, raising over £2,000.

This year we celebrated over three decades of our amazing Fighting Against Cancer Edinburgh fundraising volunteers. Their dedication and hard work have raised millions over the years, making a difference in the lives of people living with cancer. You are all amazing!

Mothers’ Day Event and Raffle
Well done to Joan, Annette, Lynda, Lesley, Val, Linda, Heather and the incredible people who supported their Mothers’ Day fundraising event and raffle. They raised an amazing £830 to support rehabilitation services for neurological, stroke, and brain injury patients on the Mears Ward at the Astley Ainslie.

Walking the West Highland Way
Ian and Jim undertook a sponsored walk along The West Highland Way in memory of Danny, the late son and brother of friends at work. They raised £1,080 for children and young people undergoing treatment at the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).
Lorna Forsyth
Supporting FACE
Lorna Forsyth from GI Cancer Care raised £2,788 to support our Fighting Against Cancer Edinburgh (FACE) Fund. Lorna, who set up GI Cancer Care, and her family had benefited from the annual FACE trip to Lapland, which helped her and her family create magical and special memories during a difficult time. She wanted to raise money to so that another family bereaved by gastrointestinal cancer could receive that same benefit by going on the trip.

Zipslide
Angela, Oliver, Kirsty and Leeanne took on a zip slide challenge, 100ft high and 1,000ft long, raising nearly £2,000 to support patients, their families and staff.
Arran
Selling Sunflowers
Arran, age 13, raised over £2,000 for a vein finding machine at the Western General Hospital by selling sunflowers and also donated gifts for children at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People.

Kiltwalk: Edinburgh
Nick raised £195 by taking part in the Kiltwalk to say thank the staff who took care of his partner when they were diagnosed with Myeloma and give something back to help others.

Prosecco High Tea
Rhiannon Preston organised a Prosecco High Tea and raised £3,234 to say thank you to the staff at the Cullen Centre (an NHS Lothian adults eating disorder centre) and to help patients and their families receiving care for an eating disorder.

EMF: Edinburgh Marathon Festival
Senior Charge Nurse, Emma, took part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival with her sons Finlay and Ruaraidh to raise money and celebrate 75 years of our amazing NHS.

Walking Challenge
Amy did a sponsored challenge of walking 0.8 miles and eating one slice of cake to show her thanks for the team at the Regional Eating Disorders Unit (REDU) at St John’s and help raise awareness of eating disorders and encourage others to get help

Triathlon Challenge
Molly and her family undertook a triathlon-style challenge and raised over £6,000 for scoliosis research to say thank you to the staff who cared for Molly before, during and after her spinal surgery and help others in future.

Garden Party and Raffle
Gill and her family organised a garden party, raffle and more and raised over £6,700 to support our Edinburgh Cancer Centre Neuro-oncology fund.

London Marathon
Lauren ran the London Marathon to raise money in memory of her gran and dad and support NHS Lothian patients and staff at the Western General Hospital.

London Marathon
David ran the London Marathon and raised £3,000 to support our Fighting Against Cancer Edinburgh (FACE) fund to help make the experience of fighting cancer a bit more comfortable for patients and loved ones.

Darren ran an ultra-marathon (53 miles) to show his appreciation for the Children’s Ward at St John’s Hospital and help enhance experiences for children and their families.

Deborah and her partner Sara completed the West Highland Way and raised over £1,100 to say thank you to and support the neurosurgery team.
Jenny Lee and Barrett Steel Scotland
Three Marathon Walking Challenge
The team from Barrett Steel Scotland walked three marathons over three consecutive days and raised over £21,000 for the Margaret Lee Breast Cancer Oncology Fund.

Our friends at Robertson Group joined us again for a Kiltwalk as part of the many fundraising events and activities that they have been doing. Thanks to this and events such as a charity football match and their support to make Christmas special for patients in hospital, the team has raised an amazing £28,000 to support NHS Lothian patients and staff to date.

Starbucks joined us at NHS Lothian HQ to host a coffee morning and raise money to support life-changing projects across NHS Lothian.
