NHS Lothian Charity has launched its new festive event, The National ‘Elf Service Day, to help support NHS Lothian staff to bring Christmas cheer to patients in hospitals and communities, creating joyful memories for those who are unwell.

Our Common Humanity was commissioned by Tonic Arts, NHS Lothian Charity’s award-winning Arts in Health programme. It is one of over 60 major pieces of art and design commissioned by the charity for healthcare settings, across Edinburgh and Lothians, since the programme was first established in 2015.

NHS Lothian Charity has signed a commitment to do more to tackle the cause and impacts of climate change. The ‘Funder Commitment on Climate Change’ recognises that the growing climate emergency is a serious risk to the pursuit of charitable goals and that funders have a responsibility to ensure they are managing and distributing resources in a way that recognises and responds to this threat.

Staff and patients from William Fraser Centre and Islay Centre undertook a 5K walk to raise money for NHS Lothian Charity and help support therapeutic ponies for the Centres at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital.

World-renowned London Symphony Orchestra has performed a series of ground-breaking concerts at four hospitals across NHS Lothian as part of the Edinburgh International Festival. The uplifting events, organised in collaboration with NHS Lothian Charity, saw patients and staff enjoy some respite and distraction through an afternoon of music.

In a heart-warming effort to enhance the wellbeing of cancer patients, volunteers from FreeAgent, with support from staff at TCV, a conservation charity, dedicated their time to restore the FACE garden at the Western General Hospital.

Local independent chocolate artisan, COCO Chocolatier, are helping to enhance NHS Lothian staff wellbeing spaces by transforming their chocolate bar wrapper designs into bright, colourful vinyls for the walls.

The NHS Big Tea brings communities together over a shared love of the NHS. This year is particularly special as it is also the NHS’ 75th birthday; 75 years of providing care to us and those we love.
